DISD CTE

Career and Technical Education Mission Statement:

The mission of our CTE department is to provide the necessary resources to staff to provide our students with strong experiences in, and understanding of, all aspects of an industry through speakers, course-related projects and lab experiences, clinical rotations, work-based learning and opportunities to test for certifications.

Secondary and Post-Secondary Planning:

Dumas ISD offers eight programs of study. 7th-12th grade counselors visit with students about their career interests to help them determine which program of study best meets their future career goals. DISD Career and Technical Education courses are arranged in a sequence within these programs of study.

Dumas ISD Career Plans of Study and Coherent Sequence of Courses:

Dumas ISD students have an opportunity to choose to follow a Career Plan of Study based on a coherent sequence of courses. Counselors, teachers, and administrators visit with students as they create their 4-year high school plans to guide them from 8th grade through their first year of postsecondary study or work.
