THREE NEW REPLACEMENT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Average Age of Schools is 62 years ​

New energy-efficient schools will address:

  • failing infrastructure -- plumbing and sewer, HVAC systems, outdated technology bandwidth
  • small classroom spaces that do not meet current State square footage standards, and lack of instructional spaces for special programming

New energy-efficient schools will include:

  • Modern safety & security include access card-reader and central lockdown systems, secure entryways, and storm shelter features
  • Larger modern classrooms and libraries
  • Collaborative learning spaces and high-tech classrooms
  • Space for full-day Pre-K programs at each new school that will serve a total of 350 children districtwide
  • High-speed internet and wireless capabilities
  • Fully equipped playgrounds and gymnasiums
  • Spacious kitchens and cafeterias that can serve more students in a shorter amount of time
  • Efficient student loading and unloading zones

NEW CACTUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

  • Replace Cactus Elementary School with a new building on a new site in the city of Cactus that will serve 450 students in grades Pre-K through 4

TWO NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

  • Two new elementary schools serving grades Pre-K through 4 with a student capacity of 850 students on sites located in the city of Dumas
  • Consolidate Sunset and Morningside into one new school
  • Consolidate Hillcrest and Green Acres into one new school
