In 1953, after a time in the US army, Howard Bose came to Moore County to live off the land. He took a side job as a bus mechanic with DISD that same year. The next year, he found himself in the classroom teaching English and Latin. Eventually, he came to teach vocational Auto Mechanics and began to partner with Amarillo College so that his students could get college credit for their work. This was the beginning of the partnership with AC that has grown into two campuses in Dumas. Bose retired from Dumas ISD in 1984, Howard Leland Bose came to Moore County to farm and ranch in 1954; he left the people of this county a legacy that will not soon disapper.
