Evelyn Beth Murphy Salim has lived her entire life in Dumas, Texas (except for going to college).  She taught English for twenty years with great passion at Dumas Junior High School and Dumas High School.  However, her retirement did not see an end to that passion.  Beth was a charter member of the Dumas Education Foundation and served as its President for its first two years, making certain that the fledgling organization had a solid foundation upon which to flourish.  To ensure the stability of that foundation, she personally collected hundreds of recipes, organized them into a beautiful collection, and sold the books which raised $12,000 for DEF.  She served on the Dumas ISD School Board for twelve years and was its first woman president.  Beth touched the lives of a myriad of students though her classroom and will have a hand in the future of many more through DEF.
